Resizing an image using Paint .NET
The following step by step help instructions will take you through the process of resizing an image using the freeware program paint .NET.

Open the Paint .NET program. Go to the File menu and click the Open button in this menu. This will allow you to open the image you would like to resize. Select an image from your computer that you would like to resize. Go to the Image menu and click the button called Resize - This will open a new window

Enter the width you would like (e.g. for most websites no more than 450 pixels wide is preferable, while images less than 145 pixels wide can be difficult to see). As long as you have the maintain aspect ratio tickbox ticked, the image height will automatically just to retain the image’s perspective. You should also take this opportunity to ensure your image's DPI (dots per inch) setting is no more than 72 pixels/inch. |

Once you are happy with the image size setting, click the OK button.
Next go to the File menu and this time click the Save As button Select where you would like to save the image on your computer and what you would like to call it. Now is also the time to select the file format you would like to save your image to (e.g. .JPG or .GIF). |

Click the Save button - this will open a new window If you have selected to save your image as a .JPG you will have a screen similar to the one above. In the quality box enter a number from 1-100 and watch the preview on the right hand side to check the image at the different qaulity settings (generally 80 is a good setting). Click the OK button and your image resizing is complete | |||
